Saxon Urn with Germanic Motifs
A rare piece of porcelain, K511, Sachsen-Urne. Porcelain with dark basalt glaze that gives the impression of burnished bronze finish, a reminder of the later period bronze age of the Saxons.
This model is a rare urn, only 36 were made in the years of the records for 1938/1939, by comparison the unglazed K7 model urns out number these by approx 10:1 in respect of production figures in the same time period.
Beautiful rustic piece. No damage, chips, fractures or restoration, light spots are not chips, just points where the dark glaze is thinner on the white porcelain, just as it was made. Allach entwined runes within octagon to base.
