THird Reich Railroad Eagle

A very fine original Third Reich Deutsche Reichsbahn Railway Locomotive Eagle by the maker GPH cast in the typical Al.Mg.Si alloy.Railroad Eagles A large eagle commonly referred to as a 24″ railroad or boxcar eagle which would have been mounted on the side of a locomotive. (Eagles with swept back wings were mounted on the front of the engines)

This nice example clearly used and ‘liberated’ by cutting off the bolts with a saw between the locomotive and the eagle. Sawing marks clearly visible around the two wings and the wreath area mounts. Chain attached for display, looking at it, probably right after ‘liberation. Nice to see real used piece with character, not polished up. Many examples look like they have never been used.

Pictured right, a great image of GI’s with their war trophy Reichsbahn eagles. (Photo credit: source unknown, digital image posted on War Relics Forum -by lach470)
